Texas Impact
Could special antibodies produced by llamas help the fight on COVID-19? A graduate student researching at UT and his mentor joined with colleagues in Belgium in discovering the answer is yes. (A Belgian llama named Winter, center, helped, too.) The team won a prestigious award from the American Association for the Advancement of Science in recognition of research of “great societal benefit.” They are just some of the scientific, mathematical and technological researchers – including College of Natural Sciences students – who have been hard at work on projects with the potential to impact lives in Texas and around the globe.
